Registered nurses have a social responsibility to recognize nursing subjects as those who have human dignity and values, provide the best nursing care as health care professionals, and contribute to the improvement of the health and health care of nursing subjects as protection of national health. To this end, nurses must be guaranteed basic rights as nurses in the health care field and respect and protection for autonomous and independent nursing practice as professionals. In response, Korean Nursing Association publishes the Bill of Rights for Registered nurses as follows.
- Nurses have the right to be protected from all physical, verbal, sexual violence and unfair treatment as personal beings.
- Nurses have the right to be respected as professionals by nursing subjects, fellow medical personnel, and related workers or organizations.
- Nurses have the right to protect their personal information and not to be infringed upon their privacy.
- Nurses have the right to work in an ethical environment that supports and promotes the best care for nursing subjects in accordance with the Korean Code of Ethics for Nurses.
- When the health or safety of a nursing person is threatened by a fellow medical personnel, related workers, organization, etc., a nurse shall take care of the nursing person from the threat of the health or safety of the nursing person
They have the right to protect and protect the human rights of nursing subjects. - Nurses have the right to care by their own professional judgment within the professional nursing standards and legal authority established by the Korean Nursing Association.
- Nurses have the right to participate in education and research for continuous growth as professionals and improvement in nursing standards.
- Nurses have the right to participate in activities to improve health care policies and related systems to promote public health.
- Nurses have the right to be protected from vulnerable working environments that threaten their health or safety.
- Nurses have the right to receive fair treatment and compensation appropriate to their professional knowledge, experience, and level of responsibility for their work.
- Nurses have the right to negotiate employment conditions corresponding to their profession as individuals and groups in all workplaces.
